\n All 01v96's are still under warranty. If he opens it up, he voids the warranty. If he can't fix
\nit by external means, he may need to send it back. He'll have to pay for the labor and the fader, if
\nhe can't fix it by opening it. If he has a major problem down the road, while still under warranty,
\nhe's really in trouble, if he opens it to fix a minor problem. That's why I said "first" before
\nopening it up or sending it back for repair, try to resolve the problem from the outside.
\n You don't want to put isopropyl alcohol on electronic components as the denaturalant contains
\noil and it will leave residue. Same reason why you shouldn't clean heads with less than denatured
\nalcohol. A contact cleaner like Pro Gold would be his best option in the US. Countries that haven't
\nbanned Freon 22, his best option would be a Freon based cleaner. You can clean contacts with Freon
\n22, while the power is running through the circuits, it's totally non conductive, it dries within
\nseconds, leaving absolutely no residue. It's amazing to see this stuff work, it actually disolves
\ncrud and evaporates it. In a matter of seconds moisture and fine particles disappear right before
\nyour eyes and in 15 seconds the component is dry to the touch.
\n
\nBut first step, work the fader, re-calibrate and see if that doesn't fix the problem.
