\n> He needs to match his gain exactly when A/B'ing between the Mackies
\nand the NS-10's.
\n
\nRonny, I don't think that is necessary. If he were comparing monitors, yes,
\nbut to hear what a mix sounds like on different monitors, no. Level matching
\nis not important. Only to the extent that the source is equal, ie. a cd
\ntrack. As a matter of fact I would listen to the mix throughout a gain range
\non each set. To see(hear) if they sound good at low volume, mid-vol. and
\nhigher volumes. Each set. This is pretty consistent with your further
\ncomments about the boom boxes. They are not going to be gain matched but are
\ngoing to be very good indicators of how good the mix is going to translate
\nin the real world.
\n
\n take the cd to wal-mart and audition about 30 seconds of the cd on all the
\nboom
\n> boxes and stereo's that they have hooked up. You can get the gist of how
\nyour mixes sound on 20 or
\n> 30 players. When it sounds good on most of them, you are in the pink. It
\nonly takes a couple times
\n> doing this until you can relate the Mackies to the way the mixes sound on
\nmany players.
