\n\n----- Original Message -----\nFrom: \n Dean \n Guidry\n \nSent: Friday, March 26, 2004 10:20 \n AM\nSubject: Re: [01v96] Aviom product for \n O1V96\n\nI have had the opportunity to use one of these \n headphone monitoring sytems and can tell ya'll that it is one of the best \n products for studio monitoring I have ever encountered in all my years of \n recording. We use 5 stations and the distribution unit. The \n network uses cat5 cabling and the stations are connected in series with \n imperceptable latency. At each station one can independently set the \n following paramenters for up to 16 individual channels: volume, pan, treble \n bass, master volume. One can also group channels and parameters. I \n operate a 48 channel protools tdm 6.1 system and an 8 bank group \n of A/D converters is dedicated to the Aviom monioring system. \n I can assign sends to these channels and each performer can adjust his mix to \n suit himself almost completely eliminating the engineers former responsibly \n for providing it.\n\nI undertand its excellent, too, for statge \n monitoring as each station has an output to feed an amp'd \n stage monitor. There is no practical length limit on the cat5 \n cabling.\n\nThe distribution unit takes up only 1 rack \n space. One can link stereo pairs. Input pads can be adjusted -18, \n -10 and -4, if i remember correctly. Its very sensitive to clipping \n (harsh digital) so be careful with your gain staging.\n\nOne distribution unit costs about $600 and each \n station about $400, I think.\n\nI don't own an interest in this company nor do I \n derive any benefit from my description here, so my praise in credible and \n objective.\n\n\nOf course we believe \n that your praise is credible Dean, you don't need to menion that. Great thing \n about the 01v is that you can throw a limiter on each aux output and stop any \n clipping before it starts, as long as you don't redline the Aviom of \n course.\n\nThanks mucho for the detailed \n information.\n\nKeep On Trackin'\n\n------Ronny Morris - Digitak \n Mastering------\n
