\n\n\n----- Original Message -----\nFrom: \n spoony21male@...\n \nSent: Wednesday, July 14, 2004 7:00 \n PM\nSubject: [01v96] Routing and monitoring - \n almost there\n\nHi,
Here is my configuration:
Digital coax output from \n PC to 2TR-in
2TR-in L/R mapped to input channels 13 and 14 \n respectively.
Channels 13 & 14 are assigned to aux 3 & 4 \n respectively.
Aux 3 & 4 are mapped to omni 3 & 4 which are \n connected to my amp.
I now get input signals on channels 13 & 14 \n and can the audio played
out from omni 3 & 4.
This audio is not \n sent back to 2TR-out (which is good as I don't want
to re-record the \n signal I am monitoring)
So far so good (Thanks a lot Ronny, I couldn't \n have got this far
without you)
When I play an instrument connected \n to analogue input 1 it gets sent
to 2TR-out and is received by my PC \n soundcard.
The trouble is I can't hear the instruments coming out of \n omnis 3 & 4
and I would like to hear the instrument whilst I am \n recording (and
also hearing the PC output of previously recorded \n tracks).
On my PC I have muted playback of audio received at the \n digital input
so that it doesn't get sent back to the digital output (and \n go back
into the v96). I did this because I was getting some kind of \n feedback
going on.
I think it's probably possible to route the \n analogue inputs (and the
ST-in channels which contain the effects applied \n to my analogue
inputs) to the omni 3 & 4 outputs whilst still going to \n 2TR-out to be
recorded.
I didn't have any luck at all hearing the \n 2TR-in signal at the
monitors without it also going to the 2TR-out to I \n switched to using
omnis instead as they seem to be more \n flexible.
Does this make sense?\n\n\nYes.\n\n
Is what I'm trying to do possible?\nYes, but there are ways of using the \n internal routing to record a signal and monitor it without having to go out \n the omni's and without it looping back in. But you have it set up this way \n now, so let's work with what you have so far. \n\n\nYou can also just turn ch's 13-14 off \n at the v96, to prevent the loop and turn it back on when you want to monitor \n the playback of what you have recorded on PC.\n\nIf your instrument is input on ch 1 \n and your omni's are set to Aux 3 and 4, when you turn up channel 1 on Aux 3 \n and 4 mode you should hear it out omni's 3 and 4. Set the Aux to Pre on ch 1 \n and post on ch's 13-14. If that doesn't work.\n\nTry this: Let's keep the SPdif input \n (13-14) open for monitoring already recorded channels and use the busses for \n the record send. In SM keep Input patch ch's 13-14 enabled under 2TD L/R. On \n the Output page page set Bus 1 to 2TD L and Bus 2 to 2TD R ( bus 2 to 2TD R \n for stereo instrument record send to PC for future use, this will also prevent \n a loop on the R buss of 2TD) If you record using the 2TD out and playback \n using the 2TD IN, you'll loop. By using the busses to send your A/D inputs to \n PC via 2TD, no loop. Make sure that you enable Bus 1 on channel 1 and disable \n all busses on all other channels, while leaving ch's 13-14 enable to ST buss \n at the bottom left.\n\nYou don't enable channels 13-14 \n persay to the auxes, because they are always going to the auxes, when you turn \n those channel faders up in aux mode. The auxes should output all channels that \n are input to A/D so when you record to PC via the busses, turn up channel 1 in \n Aux 3 and 4 and ch's 13-14 in Aux 3 and 4 and you'll hear the recorded \n instrument and the playback from the PC.\nHang in there David, you're at the worst \n part of learning the board and that is getting familiar with the routing \n matrix. Once it's mastered you are on the downhill side as the rest of the \n features are easier to understand.\n\n\nKeep On \n Trackin'\n\n------Ronny Morris - Digitak \n Mastering------\n
