\n\n\n\nAh ha! I remember that clearly from the dithering \n tests and I still have those numbers documented. That proved that a \n 24-bit signal was actually coming from the YaMo thru the RME. \n So, should I be able to record that noise floor into AA and \n get an idea of bit depth being recorded by the program?? If not, \n then how can I tell the actual bit depth recorded from the RME into \n Audition? The WAV analysis in AA reports 24 bit in \n Actual Bit \n Depth.\n\n\n\nLike Digicheck, go by \n the noise floor. Right click your input meter and set it to -120dB range. \n When the signals is 16 bit you'll see a noise floor of -93 or so, if it's 24 \n bit, you'll see the meter not registering as noise floor will be below \n -120dB. If you do an analyze in AA, record dead air, check the average RMS, \n it should be around -96dB when dither is turned off and show 1 actual bit as \n signifying that the information contains less that a bit of data and around \n -93dB when dither is turned on. At 24 bit, you'll get a noise floor of \n around -141.5dB with dither turned on and -148dB if dither is turned off. To \n check further, you'll have to have at least one channel on but no signal \n inputting into the console. If you turn the channel off and dither off, \n you'll get an INF signifying that there is no bit data being input, without \n dither noise there is no signal. You'll also find the -107dB thang if you \n mess around a bit when a channel is on, that confirms that the actual noise \n floor of the yam board is at -107dB from input to output and true to \n the yam ADC specs.\n\nKeep On \n Trackin'\n\n------Ronny \n Morris - Digitak Mastering------\n
