\n\n\n----- Original Message -----\nFrom: \n Carol \n\n \nSent: Wednesday, October 13, 2004 5:43 \n AM\nSubject: [01v96] 01v96-01v\n\n\n
With the amount of used 01v's increasing with adat cards intalled on \n
them would a used 01v work to increase channels via adat to a \n 01v96?
Send the older 01v's channels subgrouped as needed or seperate to \n the
96's 17-24 layer 2 channels ? Taking advantage of the better \n
processing of the v96? Can the 01v's effects be send via adat as \n well?Yes, that would work, but the 01v \n is over 6 years now and you are going to risk getting sticking faders on a \n used board. \n\n\n
I am thinking of using the 01v as \n a drum subgroup mixer via adat.
Subgrouping or single channels as needed \n to a v96 for live shows.
Perhaps even omni out to line in V96 for effects \n depending on noise.
Basic 12 channel drum mixer.
Or for around the \n same price would 2 ada8000's and another adat card
in the 96 be the better \n way to go?\n\nYou'd still need a \n card for the 01v as they don't come with stock ADAT port. To get 12 outs on \n the 01v to v96, you'd have to go 8 ADAT and 4 omni analog. Or 8 ADAT, 2 SPDIF \n and 2 omni as you only have 8 ADAT outs and 2 SPDIF channel outs. Your best \n bet IMHO, would be to get 2, 8 channel digital out mic pre's and a MY16-AT \n card for the v96. The effects between the two boards are not an issue as the \n 01v has plenty good fx, eq and dyn's. However you are going to be getting 20 \n bit ADC's and DAC's with the 01v. The sonic difference between the boards is \n in the ADC's and especially the DAC's. Not a real big difference and no worry \n about live sound, but you have all of the eq, fx, gates and dyn's on channels \n 17-32 on the v96. You don't need to submix drums, you just need a way to get \n them into the board, so you can utilze the upper channel layer on the v96. \n That way you can group or mute all of your mics on one board. \n\nI can't tell you \n if the Behringer converters are better than the 01v's, I've heard that they \n are comparable to the 01v's 20 bit ADC's. I've also heard that they \n aren't as good as the Yammy converters on the v96. Don't \n forget to figure in the MY16-AT, it'll run around \n $360.\n\n\nKeep On \n Trackin'\n\n------Ronny Morris - Digitak \n Mastering------\n
