\n\n\n----- Original Message -----\nFrom: \n Mike \n McMillan\n \nSent: Sunday, October 31, 2004 7:39 \n AM\nSubject: [01v96] Routing signals to ADAT \n O/P's\n\nStandard Disclaimer first: I have studied the manual and I know I am \n\n
thick but:
I wish to route 12 or more of the input channels (set to \n select AD1 -
AD12 or whatever) to the internal ADAT 8 channel O/P's. I \n find that I
can select buses 1 - 4 but nothing comes out of buses 5 - \n 8.
Most of my work is with AD1 - AD8 set to Direct out and all buses \n then
carry the appropriate channel's signal. I can also route any of the \n
input channels to the Stereo out.
I do have an 8 channel ADAT MY \n card and an 8 channel AES MY card;
however I should not need to use these \n should I?\nNo, you shouldn't because you are only recording 8 \n tracks.\n\n\n
My intention is to feed in a maximum of 16 analogue signals, send \n them
(sub-mixed) to the 8 internal ADAT O/P's to feed to my Fostex D824, I \n
then want to return the 8 channels via the 8 internal ADAT I/P's. for \n
mixdown to stereo and for monitoring. The stereo signal is then being \n
fed to the S/PDif O/P socket to a DAT machine for a video layback job. \n
Most of this requirement is working except the inability (through my own \n
ignorance I think) to route the AD1 - AD16 inputs to the 8 channel \n
internal ADAT O/P's as I desire.
Please someone, tell me where I'm \n going wrong!\nCan't do that but I can tell you how \n I would do it. When I have less than 16 tracks to record I'll route the \n AD's to tracks 1-16 on the D2424 and return those track to the ADAT in port \n and one port on the MY16-AT. I route the recorded tracks back to ch's \n 17-32, so that I have the recording mix on 1-16 and the mix down tracks on \n 17-32, you could do this with input mix on ch's 1-16 and playback on 17-24. \n\n\nGo to PATCH > INPUT \n PATCH F1>enable AD1-AD16 (this may be default) to INPUTS 1-16. Go to \n OUTPUT PATCH (right display arrow + F3) between SLOT and OMNI \n is the stock ADAT port assignments>enable Bus 1 to ADAT 1, Bus 2 to ADAT 2 \n ...... Bus 8 to ADAT 8. Go to Pan/Routing ROUT 1-16 F2>Disable D on all \n channels enable the busses that you want to use per subgroup. Lets say ch's \n 1-2 will go to track 1, ch's 3-4 to track 2, ch's 5-6 to track 3, etc. On ch's \n 1-2 enable bus 1, ch's 3-4 enable bus 2, ch's 5-6 enable bus 3 etc. Hit \n Master Layer, turn on all busses, they will be on physical faders 9-16. I just \n ran a quick test and am getting all 8 busses to go to D2424 track 1-8 and \n playback on 17-24 by assigning 17-24 INPUT page to ADAT 1-8. Try that Mike, it \n should do the trick, if not I'll send you a Scene that I know that works. \n\n\nKeep On \n Trackin'\n\n------Ronny Morris - Digitak \n Mastering------\n
