\n\n----- Original Message -----\nFrom: \n Ronny Morris\n \nSent: Sunday, September 07, 2003 4:11 \n PM\nSubject: Re: [01v96] Synch to \nAlesis\n\n\n\n\n\ni've been trying to figure this out for about a \n week now.\n\ni have an Alesis HD24 connected to the v96 in \n the following ways:\n1. midi (in and out)\n2. BNC for word clock\n3. v96 is the MTC master\n\nunless, i'm thinking crazy, when i hit the play \n button on the v96 screen ... shouldn't the alesis actually PLAY? my \n understanding is, i should be able to get the same functionality with the \n v96/HDR that i get with the 4416 (track, mix/edit, etc.) i would like \n to have this setup (mixdown deck coming soon) as independent as possible to \n run two studios. if i have the wrong equipment/setup, now would be a \n good time to steer me in the right direction. i have about two \n more weeks before i can get full refund toward the right \n purchase.\n\n\n\nThe HD24 won't MTC both ways. \n IIRC it will only send and not receive. Jim Santos is the one to talk get \n with on this Preston. He's got an AW4416, an 01v and an HD24. He said if he \n had to do it over, he would have gotten a D2424LV instead of the HD24. He's \n having to use a midisport or some kind of a hub to interface his gear. If \n you can't find his email addy I can send it to you in private. Just let me \n know.\n\nPersonally, unless I am syncing \n up two or more HD-R's, I don't worry about midi, with the Fos HD-R's, I just \n stick the full functional remote right in front of the 01v's. Less midi less \n hassles. Why do you need to control the HD24's transport controls with midi \n from the v96? The only app that I can visualize is having more than 24 \n tracks to be recorded and having to sync up the AW and the HD24, but still \n wouldn't require the transports to be controlled from the v96 as you can use \n the HD to control the AW's transports. The transport control for PT, \n Nuendo and any full midi implementation DAW platform is integrated \n into the v96, so it's an option that can be utilized providing the \n outboard unit can accept MMC and MTC, but the direct and simple route has \n always been the least complicated and the least susceptible to malfunction, \n for me, so unless it is completely necessary, you are just opening yourself \n up to more avenues that lead to problems.\n\nKeep On Trackin'\n\nRonny Morris - Digitak Mastering\n
