\n\n----- Original Message -----\nFrom: \n Ronny Morris\n \nSent: Sunday, September 07, 2003 11:20 \n PM\nSubject: Re: [01v96] Synch to \nAlesis\n\n\n\n----- Original Message -----\nFrom: \n TB-AV\n \nSent: Sunday, September 07, 2003 8:44 \n PM\nSubject: Re: [01v96] Synch to \n Alesis\n\nCan that software for the V96 send MMC? If so, \n you should be able to give it the HD24 ID and it should start.\n\nIt won't sync to outboard \n timecode, IIRC Tom, so the HD would have to be MTC master. The AW will, it \n likes to be MTC master too, but it should sync to the V duplex, regardless. \n Problem with the HD24 sync issue is well known, but is one of the few \n drawbacks mentioned. Other than that major gripe, most users seem to \n be satisfied.\n\n\nRonny, on a side note. Is there a "mini-review" \n anywhere in the archives where you guys compared the new V to old or \n generally did a quality review?\n\nI know a lot of the good stuff gets lost inside \n various messages. Do you recall any particular thread or threads I might \n want to check out.\n\nThe boards started coming in \n May, there were a few comparisons around than, but I could list a synopsis \n of my first impressions.\n\nIn this order, mostly:\n\nBetter DAC's\n24 ADAT I/O's\nBetter ADC's\nSeparate gains for stereo channels 13-16, single \n mics can be inserted in each L or R, instead of one mic per channel pair, \n actually 13-14 and 15-16 aren't automatically paired and are mono channels \n like 1-12 just TRS instead of XLR\nBetter fx algo's, better sound due in part to \n the DAC's being closer to mastering DAC's\n127 Pan detents instead of \n33\nGates and Comps separate on every channel, aux and \n buss, in effect two dyn processors per channel\nTwo eq's and improved algo's, the two eq's so far \n is no biggie for me, but again the clarity of the DAC's make the eq's easier \n to fine tune and sound cleaner\nAdded a Q knob on the face panel, I especially \n like that\n4 fx processors\n8 ST In channels\ninsert/returns on all \n XLR channels\nanalog RMS and peak lights on each channel, easy \n to set input levels in a dark venue\nuser defined keys\n8 more functional channels\n8 auxes and 8 busses\n8 fader groups\n8 mute groups\nAll 8 auxes available to all upper \n channels\nBNC clock, no biggie for me\nRouting matrix is more \n comprehensive\nMetering is more \n comprehensive\nStudio Manager is last but certainly not least and \n may be at the top of the list for some folks, a feature that has to be \n experienced to really be appreciated by an original 01v owner. It \n allows\nFast arrangement of outputs\ninputs and inserts\nlarge colored eq graph for each \n channel\nlarge gate graph\nlarge dyn graph\nspline control for rapid tweaking of graph curves, \n that's best of all, IMHO\neasy access to scenes, fx, dyn's and eq \n libraries\ndrag and drop insertion of \n presets\nInput and Output patch user preset \n libraries\nComplete implementation channel \n strips, including\neq spline adjustable mini graphs for fast ballpark \n tweaking on each channel, bus switches, input output route adjustment, \n phase, comp, gate and eq on off buttons, all 8 auxes gains can be adjusted \n on each channel strip with slide bar and of course the standard pan SEL, \n Solo and fader, also channel naming on the strip. All of this information \n carries instantly over to the v96 via USB midi. Standard USB \n cable.\nI know I forgot something Tom, but I'm getting \n tired of writing. :O)\n\n\nThings that I like on the older V or are unchanged \n on the new V.\n\nGlobal libraries accessible from any scene, work \n around on the new V is to create your own Globals and keep updating them on \n all major scenes\nStereo meter is larger on the old \n display\nFont's are larger on the old \n display\nSame amount of omni's on the new \n V\nsame monitor and stereo outs\n1 ADAT port is stock on the new V, uh-oh, that one \n one belongs on the top list :O)\nA biggie for me is the fx having their own faders \n and fader mode, the workaround on the new V is to use the auxes, makes it a \n bit more complicated but is still doable.\nAnother thing that I miss is the internal \n parameter and fader assignments that you can do in REMOTE mode on the old v, \n I haven't figured out a way to control eq with faders on the new v, maybe \n it's there and I haven't gotten that far yet.\nHm-m-m that's about all that I can think of. It's \n a much improved board Tom and you know that I've always loved the original v \n and will still keep my old one. :O)\n\nDownload Studio Manager and check it out. You can \n upload one of the .01X session files that I uploaded to the Files section \n and check out some configs. Select a channel and hit C+1 on your keyboard \n and the Channel View graphs will pop up. Than to change channel views, just \n click on the channel numbers top left. Check out the libraries and the splne \n adjustable eq curve. Just click and hold, on the line at any frequency on \n the curve and move it where you want. Left right for freq, up or down for \n boost and cut.\n\n\nThanks,\n\nAlways my pleasure with you \n Tommy.\n\nKeep On Trackin'\n\nRonny Morris - Digitak Mastering\n
