\nDon't know about XP, but in 98, there is a USB directory in Control Panel>Settings. If you have the
\nUSB directory in XP listed like it is in 98, he can check the USB drivers there.
\n
\nI also had this problem when I unhooked SM and used that PC USB port for a temporary scanner hook
\nup, than when I hooked up SM again, no ports showed in the SM midi window, nor System Setup.
\nHardware mixer remained off line. Going to SM System Setup all ports were blank and no Yamaha USB-01
\nIN or Yamaha USB-01 OUT was listed, just white blank spaces. I fixed it by opening a PC audio
\nprogram, (Cool Edit Pro 2.0 in this case) and changed the Midi tab settings to USB, than when I went
\nback to SM I could read the Yamaha USB 1-8 IN and OUT options. I than clicked on USB 01 IN and OUT
\nand it started running the duplex USB signal between mixer and SM again.
\n
\nI don't believe that it's a chipset issue as reported on the Yam Pro Group. Try opening an audio
\nprog in your PC and see if you can read the Yammy USB there, if you can see it there, enable it,
\nthan go back to SM and you should see the port options in the midi window and in File>System Setup.
