As Atle says, it works on his laptop. \n\n\nI have *exactly the same* difficulty and haven't yet \n succeeded in getting the USB communication going. I am interfacing \n through midi at the moment.\n\nI have a theory that it might have something to do \n with the Edirol USB midi interface that I am running, but haven't progressed \n much further.\n\nYamaha Australia have failed to respond to my request \n for support.\n\nGreg \n\n \n

On that \n diagram make sure you type in the studio manager ID. This had me going \n nuts once.\n\n \n-----Original Message-----Hi!

Subject: [01v96] \n Cannot get the USB driver to work
I am \n having a hard time trying to get my PC to communicate with my
01v96. I \n have plugged in the USB-cable, turned on the 01v96 and
installed the \n latest USB-Midi driver (ver. 2.09) when asked to, then
rebooted. When I \n start the control panel applet after
rebooting 'MIDI-USB driver' I get \n an error message saying "Yamaha
USB-MIDI device is not connected". Also, \n when I start Studio Manager
and go to Midi setup, there are no Yamaha \n midi ports. I have tried
with different USB cables, different USB ports \n (both directly into
the PC, and into an USB-hub), but no luck. It seems \n like the 01v96
is recognized the first time it is plugged into a port \n (before
driver installation), but not the other times. This is a \n stationary
PC running Windows XP, SP1.
I have also connected the \n mixer to my laptop, also running Windows
XP, but not SP1. This works \n perfect, but sadly this is not my
primary recording \n computer.
What should I do to make the communication work between the \n mixer
and the PC?
Best regards
Atle \n Rovik
