\nYoohoo's got the plumber working again, methinks.

\n> This is basicly what I did but with pink noise .
\n> I used 12 averages in smaart to get smooth responses .
\n> I set the lowcut freq at 150 hz then cursed up reading - 20 at
\n> 400hz,500,1k ,2k, 3k, 4k, etc . I used -20 as my reference .
\n> The 3 db down point was at the 150 hz setting ( neg 23 ). It started
\n> down at 300hz . Like you said . At the one octave down 75 hz point
\n> it was 12 db's down from the reference -20 . 37.5 hz it was 24 db's
\n> down from reference point of neg 20 .
\n> With every low cut corner freq I selected I always ended up 3 db's
\n> down from reference .
\n
\nPink noise filter drops -3dB per octave going down. Try white noise it remains constant energy at
\nall frequencies. Of course our ears don't perceive all frequencies at a constant energy
\n(Fletcher-Munson curve) and AFAIK, that's why they filter white noise -3dB per octave to get pink
\nnoise. If you are going to test the accuracy of an eq system with pink noise, you'll have to take
\ninto account the -3dB drop per octave, or use white noise.
\n
\n> At a high 10 k point the filer rolled off until about neg 76 dbs from
\n> reference where it leveled off . This occured at 80 hz . About 8
\n> octaves down?
\n>
\n>

\n> I wish now I had read this post before testing this morning .
\n> When I get a chance I will retry with sine sweeps .
\n>
\n> When you did a sweep did you get a 6 db down point at selected lowcut
\n> freq as well as 12 db's per octave slope ?
\n>
\n> Of course the slope and db down point at selected freq is good to
\n> know when mixing live . The current slope seems about right for live
\n> sound when I need just a little bass in a channel that before using
\n> aux fed subs I could not get the right low filering with just a fixed
\n> low cut filter .

\nI'm running full range cab's most of the time for FOH. I'll low cut rumble out of stage monitors,
\nthat typically comes from the drummers kick, through the stage floor, into his vocal mic and back
\nthrough the monitors (low harmonic rumble loop). This problem compounds if the stage is bare and
\njust wooden floor, not counting the rug that he carries to set his drums on. Cutting all freq's
\nbelow 50Hz usually takes care of this problem and lets me get the drummers monitor up louder. Keeps
\nhim from bitching. :O)
\n
\n> Good hearing from you .

\n
\nTake care,
