\n John, \nI was blessed with a box of MPDs awhile back with no batteries and no chargers. Best advice I can give you is to tinker with One or two first and be patient in your search for accessories that you may need to complete them. I was and slowy found antennas for a few bucks each, batteries for under 5 bucks never used, the memory "BPR-1" batteries for 3 bucks each. I had a couple "146-B" which worked on the 440 band, the "145-B" which worked beautifully on the 2m band and a cache of "146-C" which I am setting up for GMRS use. \nIf you can keep the costs to get them on the air under 20-30 bucks a radio, it will be worth it and these are workhorse radios which took a beating in public service and the casual user will give them many years more with less beating. \nThere is a rib box on ebay when one searches "GE Radio" and scrolls through it for 20 bucks, just have to make the cable then. \nYou can program and dump it into each radio as it isin't specific to a serial number like the newer Motorola HTs are. \nOpen the radio up and look for the card inside each radio that has the "tracking data" on it, you WILL need this to properly set the parameters in the "Utilities" section of the software as the dead memory batteries have lost this data. This is important for High power, low power, squelch and modulation (microphone), \nShift down after you program the 8th channel and you will find you can plug in more channels in each mode. \nI am using my ham programmed MPDs for giveaway radios for new hams as it is dumb proof, where even a kid can get on the air and not screw up the programming, with a alphatag on the display to show what repeater he/she is on.. I have a blind ham that these are perfect for as he can hit the "home" button and count the beeps to know what channel/repeater he is on as well, keeping a list in brail on the radio.. \nGary \nKI4WPI \nWQJC740 Ft.
