If you change the tracking data you need to read and re-write the personality. A tracking table is built in the radio from the tracking values programmed and the personality.
Depending on how far you move you may or may not need to re-align the radio. You can force a bandsplit change with the programming software on the MPA. It will not stop you. Whether the radio can actually work on that bandsplit is a hardware issue and/or tuning.

Subject: [GE-Mpa] Changing bandsplit MPA+Tracking Data
If i want to change band split from 403-423 Mhz to 423-443 Mhz, what do i need to do more then just change the band split in the software? Does the radio need to be trimmed, if yes how to do that? Is there a chance it will work without the trimming?
I also wonder if i write Tracking data to the MPA radio does the personality get affected? Can i write the tracking data and my radios personality/programming will still be untouched in the radio?
Thanks for some answers.
regards.
