That is impossible to answer as it depends on where the radio was tuned to in the first place. It may or may not have been center tuned to the bandsplit, it could have been tuned to the high end to optimize for there or the low end… you need to program it and check it.. undoubtedly the vco will go into unlock if you move it very far, and the other tuned circuits may be ok, but I doubt it also. That is why there is detailed alignment instructions in the manual.
You may want to install standard MPA firmware into them so you can use standard MPA tools. The EDACS version of the firmware would allow you to use windows tools that are a little simpler to deal with. You can program conventional channels into the EDACS version, you just cannot put EDACS channels into the conventional versions…
As far as I know the P400 is same hardware, just different firmware and programming tools.

Thanks, actually it is a P400, the European version of MPA. The P400 software doesn't allow to read the personality, only the Tracking data. So that means that if i write new tracking data to the radio then i have to make a new personality from scratch.
Okay, but about the band split, so how much can the band split be changed without the need for re-alignment? My radio have the 403-423 Mhz band split chosen now and it is programmed with a couple of channels around 422 Mhz, i want to chose the 423-443 Mhz band split and program it with channels around 435 Mhz, do you think that will work without the need for re-alignment?
Regards.
