Hi everybody,
I just received an IBM T221 and I'm trying to get it to work with Linux with an NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 X2. My goal is to get it to work with one GPU at 25 Hz and two GPUs at possibly 41 Hz.
I'm pretty sure the device is a DG
3 since it doesn't have an external converter unit. The best I could find is that the unit itself says "Type 9503" on the sticker where the serial number resides. The Linux graphics driver I'm using is the latest one off of www.nvidia.com (8774).Anyhow, was able to get it to work with one DVI connection to drive the display at full resolution using the nvidia-auto-select option in the xorg configuration file to get the optimal resolution. However, the refresh is only 13 Hz which leads\n me to believe that it is only using single link DVI.
I next wanted to try using one of the GPUs in TwinView mode where each channel would drive 1920x2400. When I did this, I was only able to get one 1920x2400 stripe down the middle of the primary DVI channel. The monitor info said that it only detected one DVI connector. If I unplug the primary channel (and leave the secondary channel connected), I was able to see the secondary 1920x2400 as one stripe down the middle.
I also tried the config file on the IBM web site where I tried to push dual link DVI through to drive 3840x2400 at 25 Hz. It looked like the full res came through, but again, it looked like the desktop was squished to 1920x2400 pixels in the middle.
http://www-3.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-56902Has anyone been able to\n drive a T221 with the NVIDIA 8774 drivers? It seems like one of the big challenges that I'm running into is that the EDID being returned (or not returned) is confusing the graphics driver.
Also, how can I be sure that I have a DG3 or DG5? I do not have an external converter box. I do have a pair of IBM display cables where each can go into inputs A and B.
Lastly, I should use A1 and A2 and not A1 and B1, correct? Overall, it seems like the EDID from A2 does not get sent back at all. The EDID from A1 looks fine.
Please forgive me if these questions have been answered before. I just subscribed to the group and did search the archives but didn't find all the answers I'm looking for.
Thanks!
Dave
