To answer your questions:
My everyday work setup is a VP2290b driven \nby 4 DVI single link
inputs by a NVS440 card. (I have a DG3 and a DG5 \nrunning off
8800GTX's at home).
No funnies. Full screen windows open \nfull screen - if you enable
multiview, windows sees it as one large \n3840x2400 desktop @ 41Hz. The
cursor does sort of vanish a little across \ntile boundaries, but I do
not see this with the DG3 driven by the NVS440, \nonly the VP2290b, go
figure. I could be wrong on this point.
One thing \nthat bugs me with the NVS440/2290b setup is that every time
I reboot, I have \nto reset the desktop to 1900x1200 before I reboot,
because it seems like the \nVP2290b only locks on to the 4 DVI inputs
correctly about 40-50% of the \ntime. The other times, it blinks amber.
Once it locks on though, it is good \nuntil you reboot or shut down,
even if the graphics card goes into power \nsave mode or screensaver,
or if you turn the monitor off and back \non.
Doesn't make much sense, but I've seen this with 2 different \n
VP2290b's and NVS440s. This does NOT happen with a DG3.
This does not \nbother me as I rarely reboot my work computer, and if I
do I just set it to \n1900x1200 first. In case of accidental reboots
(Windows updating or \notherwise), the way to get out of the "amber
blinking" mode is to simply \ndisconnect one of the two DMS-59 cables
at the card, which will give you 2 \nout of 4 tiles active. YOu can
then use the active area to reset the desktop \nto 1900x1200, reconnect
the DMS-59 cable that you disconnected, and try a \ncouple of times to
get back to 3840x2400. Works like a charm, and it's an \neasy and cheap
solution to get to 41Hz.
Yes, there is tearing at each \nof the 4 tile boundaries. Doesn't
bother me at all, I just watch any movies \nin its own quadrant. After
all, a quadrant IS 1080p all by itself! No judder \nfrom the 41Hz
refresh vs 48 that I can notice.
I have noticed that my \nDG3 at home seems more responsive than the
VP2290b at work... there seems to \nbe a faster pixel gray to gray time
on the DG3. Then again the DG3 is \nnewer.
NO DVI DETECTIVES NECESSARY. Thank the gods.
Hope this \nhelps.
