Simon,
That serial number is earlier than Paul's (98-00254), and his \nis a
DG1. So, if that serial number does belong to that T221, then it's \n
extremely unlikely that you have a DG5.
As Paul said, it could be \nthat someone tried to make something out of
that DG1 (via firmware upgrades \nand using converter boxes) that it's
not achievable. But, who knows what you \nreally have? Maybe it's a DG5
that had a broken bezel and it was swapped \nwith one taken from a DG1.
Most likely, though, it is really a \nDG1.
Could you try one thing? With no cables connected to the T221, power \n
it on (indicator light should be on solid amber), then press the test \n
button (it's in a hole on the bottom part of the bezel, just to the
left \nof the buttons), and -- when the self-test starts, then do the
OSD display \n(select encircled i, slowly press left arrow 3 times,
then right arrow 3 \ntimes, -2- screen should display, then press one
of the arrows, and -1- \nshould display). Do you still get the same
messed up numbers?
Be \ncareful when you press the test button. Use something non-
conductive, and \ntap gently until you feel a click. It can take a few
tries to catch that \ntest button dead-on.
In any case, your problem now seems to be that \nyou're just not using
the right EDID and video card for that monitor. If you \ndo have a DG1,
the converter boxes will do nothing for you. The FX 32400 \nshould work
though, it just won't do 3840 x 2400 @ 48Hz, but you still need \nthe
right EDID. I think you have to use EDID 21, which should give you \n
3840 x 2400 @ 12Hz on a single input, or 20Hz with two inputs. That's \n
the most you will get (unless you use a Matrox G200 MMS). I'd try it \n
with a single cable first.
Connect a single cable between the video \ncard and the monitor, then
try setting the EDID to 21. Ignore what the OSD \ndisplay says
(although it would be interesting to know if it now displays \n
correctly, as all those zeroes could be because you were trying to
set \nit to an unsupported EDID), then try to persuade the video card
to do 3820 x \n2400 @ 12Hz.
