\n Subject: [Pro-97] Re-banding Update Latest from the Shack
\n
\n
\n This the latest from RS on the PRO-97 and rebanding. Too bad, the PRO-
\n 97 is a SUPER good scanner for the price. Of course non-trunking
\n systems users will have no problems. Hopefully they will offer a new
\n model that will work in the future(PRO-97A maybe)
\n
\n
\n Hello Billy,
\n
\n Thank you for your email.
\n
\n RadioShack is continually staying abreast of the ever changing 800MHz
\n rebanding program. Further research has shown that the Pro-97 is not
\n designed for use with the new 800MHz bands. We apologize for any
\n confusion caused by our previous communications regarding the Pro-97.
\n As information becomes available to us, we try and update or correct
\n any previous response sent. We apologize for any inconvenience this
\n may have caused.
\n
\n We suggest that you return the Pro-97 to the RadioShack store.
\n RadioShack has a 30-day return policy. A product may be returned
\n within 30-days of purchase with complete packaging and receipt.
\n
\n When responding please ensure that the ORIGINAL EMAIL IS INCLUDED,
\n either by using the REPLY option or cutting and pasting it in. Failure
\n to do so, may cause a delay in responding.

\n Customer's Question:
\n
\n I hope we can resolve a situation on the Nextel/FCC rebanding issue
\n and the PRO-97 scanner. I have received several different responses
\n regarding this matter from your company. I originally purchased this
\n unit in July, and returned it later in the month when I was told it
\n could not be updated.
\n
\n After I returned the unit I received an email that the unit could be
\n rebanded. I purchased the unit again on 8/18/05 after receiving that
\n email.
\n
\n The rebanding issue has been common knowledge for close to a year and
\n I would assume that GRE (the manufacturer of the PRO-97) would have
\n been aware of the issue and has planned for it. Rebanding has started
\n in my area as well as others. I would hope that Tandy/GRE has
\n developed a program to update the PRO-97 when the rebanded systems
\n become active soon. Other manufacturers already have a plan in place.
\n My main concern is that after the first of the year my newly
\n purchased scanner would become useless and I would like some
\n guarantee that I could receive an upgrade under warranty or a refund
\n of my purchase price if no upgrade path is provided. I could fully
\n understand if no upgrade was available on my unit if it was several
\n years old and manufactured before the rebanding issue was known. But
\n it is a newly designed unit and I would think it should have the
\n capabilities in place for upgrade.
\n
\n Billy
