\n That's not going to work for 2 main reasons:
\n
\n 1. The HP patrol must be transmitting continuously in order for the
\n radio to pick it up reliably. We know that they mostly do short
\n transmissions.
\n
\n 2. By the time you pick it up at highway speeds, it might be too late
\n to even slow down or worst yet, you might be picking up the same
\n patrol car calling in dispatch preparing to stop you for speeding.
\n
\n
\n Just stick to a good radar detector for what you want. It's still the
\n best gadget to sniff out speed traps and such.
