This programming applies to the Icom H16, Midland 70-134B(VHF) and Icom U16(UHF) radios. First, you need to open the radio, then on the left side of the board is a jumper that needs to be removed. After removing that, put the radio back together, turn the radio on. Hold the (F)unction key down and enter 159357 on the keypad. A colon will appear between the "ch" and the channel number. You are now in programming mode. Modes are accessed as follows..... (F)key + 1 = TX tone (F)key + 2 = RX tone (usually this tone need not be set unless you need to "tone squelch" other stations not on your system) Tones codes are as follows..... Encoder tones (1-37) 1=67.0 11=100.0 21=141.3 31=203.5 2=71.9 12=103.5 22=146.2 32=210.7 3=74.4 13=107.2 23=151.4 33=218.1 4=77.0 14=110.9 24=156.7 34=225.7 5=79.7 15=114.8 25=162.2 35=233.6 6=82.5 16=118.8 26=167.9 36=241.8 7=85.4 17=123.0 27=173.8 37=250.3 8=88.5 18=127.3 28=179.9 9=91.5 19=131.6 29=186.2 10=94.8 20=136.5 30=192.8 (F)key + 3 = Not used. (F)key + 4 = Rptr offset -- Use * for minus,# for plus offset. (to do -600 Khz, you'd press *00600 and [ENT]) (F)key + 5 = Recieve freq. (also TX if you use * or # 00000 offset-Simplex) (F)key + 6 = Not used (F)key + 7 = Special channel numbers (number channels so they are easy to remember -- you can only use 17 to 99) (F)key + 8 = TX time out timer enable (F)key + 9 = TX inhibit (great for channels you want to hear but cannot transmit on.) After you enter any data, always press enter to go back to ch:## screen. After you are totally done, press (F) and [CLR]. Your radio is now ready to use. The Midland and the Icoms are both commercial grade radios. This means that it can be used for your local Fire/EMS/Police/Sheriff's dept you are employed by as well as the local ham repeaters. REMEMBER,unless you are licensed and/or authorized to use a frequency, DON'T.
