: Hello! : I wonder if anyone here has ever come across the problem I'm having with my Gridcase 1520 laptop. I bought this machine from Electrified Discounters a few years ago as a refurbished unit. It worked fine until the internal clock/time/date battery died, and then it started demanding a password. The strange thing is, I NEVER used a password! : I did not get a startup disk with the 1520, and it has been running on regular MS Dos (not Gridcase DOS, which I also never had). After I soldered the new battery in, I was able to set the time and date. I could also access Drive A until I turned it off for the first time. After that, it started hollering for a password again. : Is there any way I can get a copy of the SETPASS file and run it in Drive A to get my laptop back on track again? I talked to the guy that services Gridcase computers at Electrified Discounters, and he didn't have a clue what to do. He just said that once a password command had locked him out, he had never found a way to get past it. : Any help would certainly be appreciated! : : Go to ftp://ftp.ast.com/Grid/ Download the file Setpass.exe, on to a floppy. You can boot from the floppy by holding the "F" key down while turning on the laptop. Not sure what you should do if you have info on the HDD your trying to get back to...
