\nI think you may be confused by the "Continue" button in the FTP
\nwindow. I was, too, when I first tried it, and got the same sort of
\nresponse as you did.

\nThe FTP server takes over the whole machine (or rather, it doesn't let
\nyou do anything else while it's running). If you want to transfer
\nfiles using FTP, DON'T click on "Continue". Just open the window,
\nstart up your FTP program on the computer that you want to transfer
\nfiles to, and use anonymous login.
\n
\nMake sure, of course, that you're talking to the correct address. The
\ndefault in the HDR usually works unless you've connected it to a
\nnetwork and have something else with the same address. Also, if
\nyou're connecting directly to a computer, be sure that you're using a
\n"crossover" cable.

\nOnce your files are transferred, THEN click on the Continue button to
\ncontinue using the HDR as a recorder.
